Paint Correction

Machine polishing that restores depth, clarity and reflection.

Swirl marks, holograms, dealer wash marks and oxidation are refined out of the clear coat — the essential foundation before any ceramic coating is applied.

What it is

Paint Correction — explained plainly.

Paint correction is a controlled machine polishing process that levels the very top of the clear coat to remove or reduce defects. Done properly it restores gloss and reflection; done poorly it burns through paint. Experience matters.

  • Removes swirls & holograms

Rotary and dual-action machines refine the marks left by poor washing and dealer polishing.

  • Reduces oxidation

Restores clarity and colour depth on sun-faded paint common on the Gold Coast.

  • Prepares paint for coating

Ceramic coatings need corrected paint to bond to and to show their true gloss.

  • Preserves clear coat

Measured, staged correction removes only what is needed — not more.

  • Before & after

What Preparation Does to the Finish

Bonnet half corrected: before on the left, after on the right
    BeforeAfter

This bonnet was photographed halfway through the job in our Ashmore workshop. The left half is how it arrived: oxidised, hazy and covered in fine wash swirls that flatten the reflection. The right half has been machine-polished in stages to level those marks out of the clear coat, then sealed with Fireball ceramic coating, so the colour reads deep again and the reflection is sharp. Every package includes this correction step before any coating goes on.

    The Fingernail Test

Run a fingernail gently across the mark. If it doesn’t catch, it’s almost certainly in the clear coat and will polish out.

    1 of 3

    Polishes out

Wash swirls and holograms, light scratches your nail doesn’t catch, water spots, oxidation and dull, hazy paint.

    2 of 3

    Can usually be reduced

Deeper marks your nail just catches, bird-dropping etching and sanding marks. We’ll show you on a test spot first.

    3 of 3

    Needs a panel shop

Scratches through to the colour or primer, stone chips and peeling clear coat. We’ll tell you straight rather than polish over it.

Not sure? Send us a photo of the mark with your enquiry and we’ll tell you which one it is.

    The Process

    How the work is done.

    1. Step 01

      Safe wash & decontamination

Loose contamination and bonded fallout are removed before any pad touches the paint.

    2. Step 02

      Paint depth reading

Thickness is measured on representative panels to confirm safe working range.

    3. Step 03

      Test spot

Pad and compound combinations are trialled to reach the required cut with minimal removal.

    4. Step 04

      Machine correction

Panels are worked systematically, refined down to a finishing polish for maximum clarity.

    5. Step 05

      Panel wipe & inspection

Every panel is inspected under multiple light sources and prepared for protection.

    One package

Everything the paint needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Correction isn't a menu you choose from. We assess the paint in person and tell you what makes sense - sometimes that is less than you expected.

    How we quote

One package, built around your car

How much correction a car needs depends on the paint: how deep the marks are, how much clear coat there is to work with, and what it is being prepared for.
    What that means
You pay for what your car needs and nothing it does not.
    • Safe wash and decontamination first
    • Paint depth checked before any machine work
    • Correction taken as far as the paint safely allows
    • Finished ready for coating or protection

    How it works

Three steps. No menu, no upsell.
    The process
It starts with the vehicle, not a price list.
    • Tell us the vehicle, its condition and how it is used
    • We assess it and tell you what makes sense
    • One clear quote, one booking, one finished car

    FAQs

    Straight answers.

Questions we're asked most often about this service.

Can every defect be polished out?

No. Deep scratches that reach the base coat cannot be safely removed. We inspect first and set honest expectations.

Correction removes a thin layer of clear coat. Done conservatively by an experienced hand it is safe; done aggressively it can be permanent.

Correction without protection means the paint is exposed. Most clients pair correction with a sealant or ceramic coating.
