What BMW Motorrad owners should know
BMW Motorrad's Australian range covers the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, the S 1000 XR, S 1000 R and S 1000 RR, the R 1300 R, RS and RT, the R 12 nineT, F 900 GS and K 1600. Most models come in several variants, such as Triple Black, GS Trophy, M Sport or Option 719, and each brings its own paint, trim and parts. We confirm what your bike is wearing before anything is touched. Book a time, bring it in to our Ashmore workshop, and we'll take it from there.
We protect every kind of BMW Motorrad:
Option 719 can mean a special paint like Aurelius Green Metallic, milled billet parts in anodised black or silver, or on the R 12 nineT, aluminium bodywork and an aluminium screen. Each of those is a different material, so each gets its own product, applied by hand, rather than one coating wiped over everything.
The R 12 nineT's tank is aluminium with exposed brushed-aluminium knee insets, and Option 719 adds more bare aluminium. Brushed metal has a grain, and polishing it flattens that grain into shiny patches. It's cleaned and protected by hand, along the grain, never machine polished.
The S 1000 XR's radiator trim has a textured surface, and the Carbon and M Billet packs add carbon-fibre and milled alloy parts. Polish residue stains textured plastic and sits in carbon weave, so those parts are masked or worked by hand with a product that suits them.
The Light White, Racing Blue and Racing Red scheme on the S 1000 XR, S 1000 R and F 900 GS mixes a solid white with metallic colours on the same bodywork. White shows road grime first and the colour boundaries are tight, so each panel is refined only where it needs it and finished by hand up to every line.
BMW's current colours are mostly metallics: Black Storm Metallic on the Triple Black and base models, Racing Blue Metallic on the GS Trophy, Gravity Blue Metallic on the S 1000 XR Sport, Aurelius Green Metallic on the R 1300 GS Option 719. The Motorsport tri-colour puts non-metallic Light White beside Racing Blue metallic and Racing Red. Then come the parts that aren't paint at all. The S 1000 XR has a textured radiator trim and optional carbon and milled M parts, Option 719 milled parts come anodised black or silver, and the R 12 nineT's aluminium tank has exposed brushed-aluminium knee insets above a chromed collector box.

Yes, with a coating made for matte and no correction stage. A machine never touches matte or satin paint, and a standard gloss coating isn’t used on it because it leaves a patchy sheen.
It helps a spill wipe off cleanly instead of etching the clear coat, but it isn’t immunity. Drips still want wiping straight away rather than at the next wash.
Painted and powder-coated parts and wheels, yes, each with the product that suits it. Exhausts and engine cases run hot, and some of those surfaces are better left uncoated than coated with the wrong thing.
No. No coating stops a stone chip or a scratch. What it does is make the bike far easier to keep clean.
There’s no set period for motorbikes. The coating is matched to your bike’s finish when we inspect it, and we’ll explain what to expect with your price.
It depends on the bike and its finish. You’ll get a timeframe with your price.
