About

25+ years working on paint, from daily drivers to prestige vehicles.

Gold Coast Polishing & Ceramic Coating is a specialist paint protection workshop on the Gold Coast, owned and run by Chris Schembri. Chris has spent more than 25 years working on paint — long enough to know that the coating is the easy part.

Every vehicle gets the same standard, whether it is a new dual-cab ute, a Tesla, a caravan or a motorbike with a matte tank. One workshop, one standard, no production line.

Preparation

Preparation is what you're actually paying for

A ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Apply one over swirl marks, transport marks or dealer wash damage and you have sealed that damage in for years.
That is why the process starts with a full wash, chemical and clay decontamination, and a paint inspection under proper lighting — before any decision is made about correction. It is the slowest part of the job and the part that decides how the vehicle looks in three years.
New cars are not exempt. It is common to find holograms and light swirls on a vehicle collected straight from the dealership.

What we don't do, and why

We don't sell paint protection film

PPF has one real advantage — it resists stone chips. On most vehicles it costs several times what a coating does, it looks wrong applied to single panels, and stone chips are comparatively cheap and easy to repair. On a luxury car it can make sense. On most cars it doesn't, so we don't push it.

We don't sell interior protection

We haven't found an interior product that delivers enough value to justify what the industry normally charges for it. You are better off keeping the $300.

We don't quote a price we can't stand behind

Some jobs need to be seen first. If the paint has been resprayed, the clear coat is peeling, or it's a classic or show car, we will tell you we need to inspect it rather than guess at a number over the phone.

Fireball

Certified Fireball installer

We apply Fireball coatings and we are certified by the manufacturer to do it. That certification is what makes the manufacturer warranty real rather than a promise from the shop that applied it.
Fireball coatings are high in SiO2, strongly hydrophobic, and hold up to UV, salt air and water spotting — which matters more here than almost anywhere else in the country.
Eligible automotive packages carry up to a 10-year manufacturer warranty. Caravans, motorhomes and marine work use Fireball Silla+, which carries a 5-year warranty.

Logistics

The part most people don't think about

Most coating jobs take a full day. Cars are usually dropped off around 7am and collected from 5pm. That leaves one practical problem — getting home and back.

Depending on the day we can usually sort it: a courtesy car, a lift to Harbour Town or the tram, or an after-hours drop-off if that's the only time you can get here. Ask when you book.

How we work

Straight answers

If a coating is not the right answer for your vehicle, we will say so. We have told customers to get bodywork done first, to save their money on interior protection, and that a competitor's price was fair.

That is a slower way to run a business and a better way to keep customers.

“I asked for a quote. Chris fully explained that I'll need some bodywork done first then a respraying before I could get the ceramic coating. There was no pressure - just good ol' fashion customer service”
