What GWM owners should know
GWM was Australia's seventh best-selling brand last year, and its range covers a lot of ground: Haval Jolion and H6 SUVs with hybrid and plug-in options, Cannon and Cannon Alpha utes, Tank 300 and Tank 500 4WDs, and the electric Ora. Haval and Cannon owners enquire with us most, but whether yours does the school run or the beach track, it lives outside, and the paint deserves proper protection from day one.
We protect every kind of GWM:
Black and dark grey Havals, Cannons, Tanks and Oras show every wash mark in Gold Coast sun. Most of those swirls go in at the car wash, not on the road, and we remove them properly rather than filling them with a glaze that washes out.
These get bought to be used: scrub down the flanks, sand and salt on the sills, mud packed into every seam. All of it is far easier to deal with on a coated surface than a bare one.
An Australian used-Cannon review notes the paint can pick up marks and chips easily, and says fairly that the same goes for most vehicles in the class. Light marks in the clear coat polish out; no coating stops a stone chip.
A Jolion or H6 hybrid, or an Ora, mostly lives outside and goes through the car wash, so bugs, bird droppings and wash swirls are the usual story. The cameras and sensors on these models are masked and worked around by hand, never machined or coated over.
Like most new vehicles, a GWM leaves the factory with a modern colour coat under a clear coat. It corrects well, but left unprotected, wash swirls, Queensland UV and road grime start dulling it from the first summer, whether it's a Haval SUV, a Cannon ute or a Tank 4WD.
