Thickness that changes across a panel makes correction a different job to normal. We take multiple depth readings per panel rather than one, because on a Jeep the average tells you very little about the thin spot you are about to polish.
Specks of dirt and dust cured into the paint at the factory sit under the clear coat, not on it. They cannot be polished out - anything that removes them removes the clear coat over the top as well. We will point them out rather than pretend a coating will hide them.
Owners report clear coat bubbling in the lower corners of doors. Bubbling is usually corrosion starting underneath, and coating over it seals in the problem. It gets flagged before anything goes on.
Scrub down both flanks, stone chips along the sills and rock rails, and mud that dries hard in every seam. A coating makes the clean-up after a trip far quicker, which in practice is the difference between a Jeep that gets washed and one that does not.
