What MG owners should know
MG was one of Australia's ten best-selling brands last year, and the range now runs from the MG3 hybrid hatch and the ZS and HS SUVs to the fully electric MG4, S5 and IM models and the Cyberster roadster. Whether yours is petrol, hybrid, plug-in or electric, it most likely lives outside, and Queensland sun, salt air and the car wash go to work on the paint from the first summer.
We protect every kind of MG:
New cars sit in holding yards and get a quick pre-delivery wash before you collect them. Fine scratches and bonded fallout are often already in the paint on day one.
Black, dark grey and deep blue MGs, from an MG3 to an HS or MG4, show every wash mark in Gold Coast sun. Most swirls go in at the car wash, not on the road, and they polish out while there's clear coat to work with.
The MG4, S5 and IM models carry cameras and driver-assistance sensors around the body. Those surfaces are masked and worked around by hand, never machined or coated over, and the big smooth panels get finished under proper lighting so nothing is left behind.
A Cyberster that lives in the garage between drives still picks up fine scratches every time it's dusted with a dry cloth or slipped under a cover. A coated finish rinses clean, so it gets washed properly instead of wiped.
Like most new cars, an MG leaves the factory with a modern colour coat under a clear coat. We measure paint depth before any machine work and correct conservatively, because clear coat removed can't be put back. Left unprotected, wash swirls and UV start dulling the finish within a season or two, whatever the model and whatever the colour.
