What Polestar owners should know
Whether you drive a Polestar 4, the brand's best seller in Australia last year, a Polestar 2, the Polestar 3 SUV or the new Polestar 5 grand tourer, the look is the same: big, smooth, single-colour surfaces with no chrome or creases to hide behind. Plenty are dual-motor and Performance models bought to be driven, and every swirl, water spot and dull patch is on show in Gold Coast sun.
We protect every kind of Polestar:
A long, smooth door reflects light evenly, which is exactly why it looks so good and exactly why a buffer trail or hologram stands out on it. Finishing work on these cars has to be right, not nearly right.
A dual-motor or Performance Polestar gets driven the way it was built to be, so the front end collects bugs and road grime fast and the darker colours show every wash swirl in direct sun. A coated finish lets that grime rinse off instead of being scrubbed in. It won't stop stone chips, which is why we check for them at inspection.
Polestar's manual names stone chips and marks on the edges of the guards, doors and bumpers as the most common paint damage. We check those areas closely at inspection and point out anything worth fixing before it's sealed under a coating.
Modern EVs carry driver-assistance sensors behind panels, badges and bumper covers. Those surfaces are masked and worked around by hand rather than machined or coated over.
Polestar's own owner's manual lists stone chips, scratches and marks on the edges of the guards, doors and bumpers as the most common types of paintwork damage, and says damage should be repaired straight away. A ceramic coating doesn't stop chips, but our inspection finds them early, so you know what's there before the coating goes on and can get anything that needs it touched up.
