Toyota ceramic coating on the Gold Coast

Australia's most common paint — and one of the softest.
We coat more Toyotas than any other make. They're kept longer than most cars, which is exactly why getting the paint right at the start pays off — but the factory clear coat is soft and marks easily during washing.

Paint profile

What Toyota paint is actually like

Water-based factory paint with a relatively soft, thin clear coat. It polishes easily — which is good for correction — but it also re-marks quickly if it isn't protected afterwards.

Common issues

What we see most on Toyota

Wash swirls and holograms

Soft clear coat picks up swirl marks from dealer wash bays and automatic car washes almost immediately. On 040 white it hides; on 218 black it's obvious in sunlight.

Transport and delivery marks

Most new Toyotas arrive with light scuffs from protective wrap, transport rails and dealer prep.

White paint chalking

Older Toyotas in Queensland sun — particularly whites and silvers — oxidise on horizontal panels first: roof, bonnet, tailgate.

Bird lime and sap etching

Soft clear coat means bird droppings etch faster here than on most European paint. Left a few hot days, they leave a permanent ring.

Our process

How we prep a Toyota before coating

Preparation is the job. The coating is the last hour of it.
  1. 01Full inspection under LED and swirl-finder lighting, with paint depth readings recorded panel by panel.
  2. 02Two-bucket hand wash, wheels and arches degreased, badges and shuts cleaned out.
  3. 03Chemical iron and industrial fallout removal, then a clay treatment to lift bonded contamination.
  4. 04Tape-up of trim, rubbers and sensitive edges before any machine work.
  5. 05Light, controlled correction using finishing pads — soft Toyota clear coat cuts fast, so we take the minimum needed to clear the defects.
  6. 06Extra attention to the roof, bonnet and tailgate where UV oxidation shows first.
  7. 07Panel wipe with a coating-safe solvent to strip polishing oils and reveal the true finish.
  8. 08Fireball ceramic coating applied by hand, levelled panel by panel under controlled lighting.
  9. 09IR / controlled cure, then a final inspection and handover pack with aftercare instructions.
