What Toyota Prado owners should know
26,106 Prados were sold in Australia in 2025, putting it sixth on the national sales chart. The 250 Series arrived late in 2024 in GX, GXL, VX, Altitude and Kakadu grades, every one with a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and plenty of Gold Coast owners are still getting great use out of a 150 Series. New or well-travelled, a Prado is a big wagon with a lot of paint facing the sun.
We protect every kind of Toyota Prado:
Every 250 Series Prado is rated to tow 3,500 kg braked, up from 3,000 kg on the 150 Series, so a lot of them spend weekends hitched to a van, camper or boat. Road spray and grime build up on the tailgate, rear bar and lower doors, and a coated finish lets it hose off instead of being scrubbed in. A coating won't stop stone chips, but it makes the clean-up after every trip far easier.
The VX gets over-fender mouldings and rear guard trim, and the Altitude runs black over-fender mouldings. Polish and coating residue left in textured black plastic dries to white marks that are hard to shift, so every flare and trim edge is taped before a machine touches the paint beside it.
The GXL comes with roof rails, and plenty of owners add bars or a platform for a rooftop tent, kayaks or the camping gear. Grit collects around the feet and mounts, and the roof itself takes more sun than any other panel while being the one you never see. We clean out around the mounts, work them by hand, and treat the roof as a priority panel rather than an afterthought.
Gold Coast Prados get taken on the sand, from Stradbroke Island up to Double Island Point. Salt spray dries on the lower doors, wheel arches and tailgate and slowly dulls an unprotected finish. A coating gives salt less to grip, so a thorough rinse when you get home actually takes it off.
Under the boxy new look, a Prado's finish is a modern colour coat under a clear coat, the same basic system as almost every vehicle built today. What makes it different is the sheer area: a long flat bonnet, a tall roof and big slab-sided doors that sit in full sun and show every wash mark at eye level. We take paint depth readings panel by panel before any machine work, because a freshly delivered 250 and a hard-working 150 Series need very different handling.

Our answer: we prep your Toyota Prado for what its paint actually needs, then lock it in with Fireball.
The package

Fireball Professional Systems
Whether it's a new GX or a well-travelled 150 Series Kakadu, your Prado gets Fireball Dok Do+, applied by hand by a Certified Fireball Installer in our Ashmore workshop on paint that's been inspected, decontaminated and corrected first. Your Prado is typically ready in a day or overnight.

How the job runs
A good ceramic coating will lock in whatever is under it (for up to 10 years!). That’s why every Toyota Prado gets a full day of preparation before a drop of coating goes on.

1
A careful pre-rinse and hand wash, so nothing gritty is dragged across the paint.

2
Iron fallout remover and clay lift the rail dust, tar and sap a wash can’t shift.

3
Swirls and haze are cut back so the paint reads deep, not dull.

4
A refining pass lifts gloss and clarity, then every panel is wiped ready to bond.

5
Applied and levelled panel by panel by certified installers.

6
Checked under inspection lights, then handed back with your warranty paperwork.

You can say no to it. It’s an optional extra. Take the car, then have it prepared and coated properly here in delivery week, for less.
Swirls and light scratches are polished out as part of the package.
